Good morning my loves! ♡
Welcome to my first post of December and welcome to my first of 8 blog posts I’m doing for my Blogmas week 2017! Can you believe it is December already?! December is definitely my favourite month of the year and I love when it comes round again. So today’s blog post is all about December and what it means to me and acknowledging the fact that it actually is December, that seems crazy last month of the year!
December is a big month for my family in general, it is my mum’s birthday on the 7th, my brother’s on the 15th, my dad’s is on the 22nd and mine is officially the last day of the year on the 31st. And then in between that we have Christmas! My absolute favourite day ever and I am just so in love with December! If you are wondering, me being born in December wasn’t planned I was actually due 8th January but you know I got into December! And then my mum and dad decided as I was born in December and they were they may as well have my brother in December so that happened, I haven’t really spoke to my dad about it but I know my mum wishes she didn’t have my brother in December and the month is quite overwhelming for all of my family to have Christmas and all the birthdays at once! I wouldn’t change mind though, it is such a special day!
When the Christmassy time of year come around, all the lights get switched on and the Christmas shops open, my mood is instantly lifted! Christmas and the whole run up to Christmas makes me so happy. A lot of people have debates about whether the actual December 25th is better or the run up to Christmas and I actually do think the run up to Christmas is a lot better! Everyone is so happy and excited and then when Christmas comes sometimes it can feel a bit underwhelming I guess and the fact that everyone gets excited for that one day of the whole year! I still love the whole countdown and the day but the countdown is more exciting!
Now we are actually coming to what Christmas means to me! I was thinking about it last night and I came up with some words: family, food, fun and friends! All those words begin with F funnily enough! I feel these word give my views of Christmas in a nutshell and that is what Christmas means to me! Spending time with family and friends, eating lots of yummy food and having lots of fun and laughs with people you love! Also spreading love to people, not just your family and friends but to the people who have no one at Christmas, the homeless and the wonderful charities who help and support these people.
Everyone has different ways of doing Christmas and different traditions that make Christmas ‘Christmas’ for them and that is another thing I love about Christmas. The freedom to be able to do it how you want to, no rules or regulations just suggestions and impressions of what you believe Christmas is and everyone’s Christmas is different and special in all their different ways! (How many times can I use CHRISTMAS in this blog post aha oops, count if you want and leave a comment!)
Christmas is obviously a very special time for Christians, for them to celebrate their religion, God and Jesus which I believe is so lovely. I am not religious but Christmas still means a lot to me as it is still really special because of all the values and things that go with Christmas.
What does Christmas mean to you? Why do you love it or enjoy it? Or if you don’t celebrate Christmas, why do you love the things you celebrate? And if you don’t like celebrating anything that is okay, everyone is free to do their own thing and noone says you have to celebrate anything.
I hope you all have a lovely rest of your week!
Lots of love.
