Hey everyone! ♡
Welcome back to my blog, I hope you are all doing really well and having a lovely summer holidays as I am guessing (fingers crossed) that you have all broken up now? I broke up last Thursday, so bye bye Year 10! I don’t want to create any bad vibes about school or the thought of summer ending from this post but today’s post is all about my plans for a Productive Summer! I want to use these six weeks as a great opportunity for me to start getting my sh*t together for Year 11 and the rest of my GCSE exams. I really hope you enjoy and if you are hoping for a productive summer, maybe you could get some ideas from this?
So I am just going to quickly run over what I need to do this summer: revise Maths & English Language, read A View from the Bridge for Literature, write some revision notes for the work I have done in Year 10 so that they are ready for when I come to revise for those subjects later in the year. Lots of fun things as you can see but I really want to get ahead with all the work so I am not left to rush it all in February because that will just make me so stressed, but of course it is different for everyone.
I find that I have to revise for short periods every night for quite a while before a test/exam because that is the best way I can take all of the information in but one of my friends has very bad long term memory so she can only revise a lot shortly before the exam and that works the best for her! Obviously, some people have such amazing memory that they literally know all of it without doing any work, sadly I wasn’t blessed with that, so I do really have to work hard for the grades I want, so that is why I am starting so early, but my Maths and English are in November.
So my plans to put my productive summer all into action are:
- Stop Procrastinating
I really struggle with this as I am such a procrastinator, as I said I want to use this time to my advantage, so I want to switch off all my devices and get all my work done in the day, so that I can just chill in the evening. Also, if I have regular breaks, it will help me to stop getting distracted.
- Get up EARLY!
This pains me to even write, but I can more productive if I wake up earlier, so that is the plan. I can get up, chill and eat breakfast and hopefully start work around 10-11 ans this will give me a good amount of time to get all my stuff done.
- Take regular breaks!
This is important as it is Scientifically proven that you learn more and are more productive if you take breaks, I am not going to lie I am the worst for just drilling it out without breaks because I really don’t want to be doing it, so this time I want it to be more spread out and maybe even start to enjoy it!
- Have a good work-life balance
Of course, I can’t be working all the time as it is not healthy and at the end of the day this is my Summer holiday so I need to enjoy it as well. So I want to do the work and chill out!
- Reward Myself I am more likely to want to do the work when I know I can reward myself at the end, it will probably be food because this girl loves her food or watching a Friends episode but also could be writing a blog post or going out and taking photos. Whatever, I am sure it will help.
So to actually revise, I am going to be using flashcards, videos and Past Papers, I prefer actually doing some interactive to revise, so a quiz or video and questions. I also love colours, to write with coloured pens, highlight things and making things pretty can make a whole world of difference and it make the whole revision process for me, a lot better.
Moving on from school stuff, I also want my summer to be productive in the fact that I do things that I love and I enjoy my Summer. Like I said earlier, it is a holiday after all. I want to write lots of blog posts, have chill Netflix binge days and go out for walks and buy an ice cream. I am also going up to London which I am buzzing about as I just love London so much and also going to a few other cities. By getting up early etc I can get all of these things done and I can and will end up with a very balanced summer.
I also wanted to end this post by saying something that might contradict this whole post but oh well: school isn’t the be all and end all, getting good or bad grades doesn’t define you as a person. They put too much pressure on you when actually all these years should be the best, before you become an adult and have lots more responsibilities. So enjoy yourselves, be happy and smile!
There is also something REALLY IMPORTANT that I need to add in at the end, like I said I want to use my platform in a positive way. So so many people, adults and children go missing every year, as much as sometimes we want to ignore that and believe that the world is this incredible place, sadly this is reality.I want to ask you to help bring the answers to Alissa Turney’s family by watching Kendall Rae’s video, telling your friends, sharing it and getting the message across. Whatever your opinion on the matter, it needs as much media coverage as it can get. Even if you don’t like videos about things like this, google her, find out some things and spread the word. Kendall also includes Alissa’s sister in the video making it very heart wrenching and personal, also she does include a petition to sign if you want to relating to the case and what you believe. So if you can and would be willing, I would be so grateful if you could take the time out of your day to just give it a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4izLpteKSY
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read my post, it means so much. Enjoy the rest of your day and I’ll see you next week!
