Hey everyone! ♡
Happy Friday I am really sorry this post is going up a day late I just didn’t have time to write it and take photos yesterday. Hope you are all doing really well., First of all, I wanted to say well done to everyone who picked up their GCSE results yesterday. I really hope you are pleased with them and if not, don’t worry, grades don’t mean anything or define you as a person. You are perfect the way you are. I collected my results for the ones I have done this year early yesterday morning and I want to share them with you. I am in no way trying to brag or boast, I just really wanted to do the post, grades don’t define you or make you a better person, they are just letters on a piece of paper and they do seem like the biggest deal at our age but things will change and they won’t mean as much! Hope you enjoy the post, leave a comment if you did!
So I have said this before but if you haven’t read any of my previous school posts you wouldn’t know that now in Wales in Year 10, you sit some GCSE exams that go towards your overall grades in those subjects along with your Year 11 ones. Each school is slightly different for what subjects they decide to put their students up for. My school decided on Religious Education, Biology, Chemistry and History. Also, we do a Welsh Baccalaureate course that is an extra GCSE in both year 10 and 11 but we get the results for our Year 10 work as well and also our Welsh speaking assessment.
So I wrote some predictions for my results a few days ago:
So I am actually not sure 100% what I could get in any of them, it could be anything and opening up that brown envelope will be a total surprise on Thursday. The grades I would like are A*/A in Religious Education, B or above in Biology and Chemistry and A/A* in History. Also, Welsh Baccalaureate an A and Welsh Speaking B or above.
But I don’t think I probably achieved most of those grades so what I think I got: Religious Education: hopefully a B or above, I really want to do Religious Education for A Level so it is really important for me to do well in this subject. The exam wasn’t too bad and I tried my best. Biology and Chemistry: Hopefully a C or above, just a pass would be fine as I am not the best a science and I don’t really want to resit the exams. The exams weren’t too hard, I just hope all my work paid off.History: With this exam I have absolutely have no idea, I could get a F and be like ‘yes I can see that’ or a C or above and be like ‘yes I can see that’. The exam was only an hour and wasn’t long enough, I didn’t finish one of the questions and didn’t have time to check through it. I have no idea, but I do really hope I do well as I want to do this subject for A Level as well and this exam is the one I am most worried about. From my previous work in Welsh Bacc, I have been marked as an A and it would be really nice to get that but as long as I pass I don’t ,mind because it is a terrible waste of time. For my Welsh speaking, I found it really hard I even cried, so I will just take a C or above.
So let’s go to Thursday this is what I got:
Religious Education: A*
Welsh Baccalaureate: Distinction 2 (highest you can get/equivalent to A*)
Welsh Speaking: B
So I am super buzzing about RE! It was the exam I actually did the least revision for but I really like RE and as I said I do really want to do it for A Level so this is a great start for me. I did work hard for the exam and tried my best so I am glad I got a good and positive outcome.
Biology, I am very happy with. I actually did struggle with some of the topics this year and as really worried about certain things coming up. Thank you Seneca for saving my butt because without you I don’t think I would’ve been able to do well in Biology.
Chemistry, OMG, this is just the cherry on top of the cake for me! I have to say thank you to my amazing teacher because without her I wouldn’t be here with an Also, I wasn’t really confident about getting my target grade (A) in Chemistry as I only got a B in the mock, but thank god the exam was so much easier than the mock. Also, the actual Chemistry topics were really nice this year.
History, as I said in my predictions I did want an A but I didn’t think I had achieved that and I didn’t. There just wasn’t enough time and I couldn’t check over my paper and it was all a bit of a mess I am not going to lie. I wasn’t that far off an A and I am hoping that my coursework and other exams next year will help to bring my grade up. But, it is okay.
Welsh Bacc, to be honest it doesn’t even matter. It just looks good on your CV but only really applies in Wales. As ideally I do want to move to England, total waste of time for me. But I am so pleased just to get another A* and it is nice to have a fully coursework based subject, wish there was more!
Lastly, Welsh speaking. As I said in the prediction I had a breakdown before we went in to do it so to salvage a B I’ll take it 100%. I don’t give two tosses about Welsh to be honest, it is such a hard language to learn and I have another speaking and exams next year yay!
Overall, I am really happy with my results and I do feel like my hard work really paid off. I don’t think I will resit any and it is just a massive weight lifted from my mind actually knowing the results. From my first experience of results day, I think the actual few days before are worse than the actual day and not knowing is worse, once you do, a massive relief. Thank you all for reading, it means so much. If you did GCSEs this year and are happy to share your grades, please let me know what you got down below!
Have a great rest of your day!
