Budget or Luxury? ♡

Hey everyone, ♡

Hope you are all doing really well and having a good week. Today’s blog post is going to be all about my views on budget or luxury, is it good to invest or just buy a cheapy that won’t last but is cheap to replace? The money can be spent on other things or not. Some of us rather spend the money and have it last, others would rather buy the cheaper version and just replace it a few times. I hope you enjoy this post and understand my views on budget or luxury and make sure to leave yours down in the comments below!

Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to purposely offend anyone with what I write in this post it is just my personal opinion and experience. Everyone can choose whatever they want to believe and do what they want. Enjoy the post

I don’t come from a very wealthy background, my mum is and always has been amazing. She has supported my brother and I on mainly one wage for our entire lives. Keeping a roof over our heads and food in our mouths. I think my views on budget and luxury are very clouded by my life experience so far. There is nothing wrong with not having much money and only being able to afford the cheapest items because that doesn’t make you a less worthy person then people with a full Gucci outfit. There is always pressure, especially with social media for everyone to have the best and to show it off. When actually none of that really matters. I do still drool over the fact of owning a Chanel handbag or Gucci trainers because I never had, but from experience, if I ever do get them it will feel amazing to buy them but then they will just be a bit meh after a few days, having them isn’t as great as you think it will be when you always want them.

Does it actually really matter what you choose? There are some great things you can get on a budget, that can look really expensive and wherever you buy your food, clothes, furniture etc shouldn’t matter anyway, as I did say there are some amazing things you can get if you look in the right places if you are on a budget. If you choose to buy more expensive things and decide to invest, that is totally okay as well. Sometimes the price does come with quality but not always, some things are expensive and totally crap or cheap and amazing! Let’s be honest lots of things are made in the same factory anyway with just different brands and prices stapled on them. You can get the exact same for £5 as you can get for £50 for some things. Also some things are ripping you off, others are actually worth the money. I guess it all comes down to how you view things, what your personal choices are and what you decide to spend or save your money on. What do you value as important and what do others? What would you invest in and what would others?

I have some lovely bits from Primark and H&M, but also I love my Hollister clothes. The price difference is steep, but I love the quality of all the clothes and I don’t mind what I wear or where I get it from. I am perfectly happy with my Primark jeans, but also my £40 Jasper Conran one from Debenhams are also lovely, I really couldn’t care less. Sometimes, people may judge me for choosing to wear cheaper clothes but you know what, it is my life and my body, I can choose to wear what I like and so what? It is not affecting your life so why do your care? Something, I really do have a soft spot for and what I do like to spend money on are shoes, specifically trainers. As a tall person, flat and comfy shoes are a definite must and I really love my spending more on shoes and I am so grateful to be able to do that. I am not going to lie, I am not so much of a fan of the high street shoes because I am fussy and they just don’t last. For me but id they work for you great, you buy whatever you want. I like my shoes to last and as my feet have stopped growing it is okay to spend money for them to last. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with people wearing whatever shoes or clothes they like, it is all about personal preference. You rock those primark shoes or gucci top? Do totally you!

To be honest, I don’t have a preference on budget or luxury, everyone should express themselves in whatever way they choose. People can splash the cash on whatever they like or not and being like me and coming from a poorer background is nothing to be ashamed of. Wearing cheap clothes is nothing to be ashamed of, be who you are and be product to be unique. If you like to invest in something, do it and if you don’t don’t. Life is for living, do what is right for you!

Have a lovely rest of your day!

Lots of love,

Eden xx

A really interesting post Eden, I think it is down to personal preference. I much prefer to buy more affordable clothes or beauty products because I would rather spend money on taking my friends/ family out to dinner or road trip somewhere. However my brothers much prefer wearing anything Tommy Hillfiger and Gucci, but they’re always skint to buy necessities. For me it’s all about priorities and what’s left over to spend on treats!

I love this post! I fully respect how mature your mind-set is and how you remain so greatful. I have pretty much the same opinions as yourself, brands and luxury means nothing to me, what matters more is the person who is wearing or using the product! (however, agree with investing a little more money on a good pair of shoes…but I mean I always apply student discount so I’m always trying to save when I can!)

    Such a great read!

I don’t have much money to be throwing around either so most of the time I buy things on the budget side! So far I’ve only found a few things to be considered worth paying for the pricier item but as for most of them, I’m ok with the cheap alternative! Nice post 😊

This is a really interesting post. I would be the same as you in that I don’t mind if something is budget or luxury. All that matters to me the wain which something is styled. But if i was to choose one or the other, I would probably lead towards more budget items simply because I’m a student and I can’t afford too much of luxury items.

If I had a lot of money I might feel differently but as of now I’d rather splurge on nice meals and helping others than fancy clothes or symbols of status. The exception for me of course is my guilty pleasure- stationery.
I enjoyed reading this and I love your hair!

It can definitely be down to personal preference and money. Like, I don’t have the money to buy luxury items but if I had all the money in the world, I wonder what I WOULD be buying? Would my tastes automatically shift because I had money? Or would I just like what I like? Interesting question!

This is such an interesting post and I kind of agree in that it’s great to experience both- I think that you can get good quality on a budget if you take the time to look around!

I have some bits of both. I typically prefer to invest in staple pieces so they’ll last longer and prefer quality shoes. I buy the odd trend piece from cheaper places as I know I won’t get the same long-term wear from it. It is a personal preference. But the other side to this is, of course, the ethical implications of fast fashion and where you stand regarding those issues x

I think I’m more of a budget person if I’m honest, I’d rather buy 5 pretty tops in Primark for the price of 2 in other places.
When it comes to leather jackets, boots or a winter coat I would rather pay a bit more for the quality

I totally agree with you on this! I’ve definitely found clothes that are cheaper but are just as good as expensive clothing. I personally love both depending on what kind of clothing I buy. Loved this post x

I always love your discussion posts Eden – they’re super interesting. Personally, I tend to buy things more often in ‘luxury’ high street stores, like Jack Wills & Hollister or Fat Face & Joules. I never find things in places like newlook or primark or H&M fit me, I have such a strange and very long body and everything is always too loose or doesn’t sit right, and they rarely have things that are my style in – plus I trust the quality more of these shops & I’d rather buy something for it to last. Really enjoyed seeing your perspective on this though!💛💛

I loved reading this, and I definitely agree! I have never been one to buy ‘luxury’ clothes, purely because I get bored of them so easily. The majority of my wardrobe is from primark; at times I feel a bit ashamed but then again nobody ever sees the tags inside my clothes. However, I often online browse and look on the Gucci website, looking at things I will probably never be able to afford. Personally, I believe that as long as you feel good in what you’re wearing, then that’s what’s most important. It doesn’t matter whether a top is worth £5 or £75 – as long as you feel happy in what you’re wearing! xx

I love this post! I’m the same way as you. I definitely mix between “luxury” and budget. What I really like to focus on is quality. When I was younger, I would definitely buy whatever I wanted, regardless of how long it was going to last me, but now I’m much more conscious of it. For some people I know the brand itself is what matters, but like you I could buy some clothes from HM and also splurge on a pair of Jeffrey Campbell boot! Great post xxx

I’d say midrange would be the sweet spot between quality and money. At times cheap things are worst and kinda useless. While same goes for the overpriced stuff. Hence staying in the middle goes well really nice for price to performance ratio. I do that all the time. Although I don’t have much idea about fashion or makeup😂 I was just talking with respect to things I usually buy.

Great post. I think it is a personal preference and like you, I like the best of both worlds xx
