Hey everyone, ♡
Happy Blogmas Day 7! I can’t believe I have uploaded six blog posts already this week, I am so proud of myself aha. I really hope you have all been enjoying them! Today’s one I am excited to post, it is a first impressions, review and festive makeup look using the Soph X Revolution Extra Spice Palette. I have wanted to try one of Soph’s palettes for so long now, as she values makeup so much and quality so I am really expecting good things. I am so grateful to my best internet friend Ella for getting me this as part of our boxswap which I did a post about and is linked here: Hope you all enjoy the post, leave a comment if you did!
So first of all, I have been eyeing up this palette for ages, it has such pretty shades and I have heard such great things about it. It has eighteen shades, mattes and shimmers with all such cute names. It also has a mirror and all for £10 which I think is amazing. The packaging is so pretty, it’s rose gold so what’s not to like? It was also in a box covered in plastic, then in another plastic bit when you take it out of the box, that is so great because it can be protected if you get it delivered and not smashed etc.
There is such a great selection of shades, so many colours which mean so many different looks can be created and everyone is totally free to play with it to whatever extent they want. Some of the looks people have created are amazing and I am definitely not a makeup artist so I can only do an average look. So the shades are:( from left to right on each row)
Everyday: which is a light pink-purple shimmery colour, great for everyday lookas as the name would suggest.
Running late: which is a gorgeous matte orange, on the more cool toned side, a sunset look would be perfect with this one.
Infinity: Omg this shade just defines infinity, a stunning shimmery silver that screams space and stars at me!
Cheesecake: a burnt kinda reddy brown matte, so pretty and perfect for warm winter looks.
Cookie dough: definitely the colour I would associate with cookie dough, a light warm brown matte.
Dreams: copper, rose gold, champagne shimmer, definitely one for everyday looks it is so pretty and great for winter and festive looks!
Vitamin C: canary yellow matte, this is such a lovely shade and I am so excited to use it as I don’t own anything like this, love it!
Sweet n Sour: really rich, dark orange matte, so lovely, perfect for winter looks and festive ones. I love shades like this and I love the name.
Twenty One: love this shade, it is such a rich matte pink shade, quite bright and you could create some super cute looks with it and you have so much to play with it.
Romance: burgundy shimmer, with some orange flicks through it, so pretty and again great for the festive season.
Enchanted: lovely matte purple, again you can create some lovely looks especially Halloween, fancy dress etc or if you are just super talented unlike me a gorgeous glam look any time of the year.
Lakes: dark olive green matte, I also don’t on a shade like this so I am so excited to play with it, it is so interesting.
Brownies: dark brown matte, reminds me of brownues, looks super rich and a gorgeous shade for all year round.
Chocolate orange: chestnut brown matte, so pretty, love the name as I am a huge chocolate orange fan.
Mulled wine: red violet matte, looks very similar to mulled wine and is so pretty. So excited to use it.
LA SUN: pretty gold summer, so pretty for festive looks and when you are in the LA sun and want a gorgeous eyeshadow shade for that aha.
Aurora: khaki green shimmer, again such a pretty, unique shade, I again don’t own anything like this so it intrigues me.
Reputation: a matte black, charcoal, a shade I am not brave enough to use but if you are really brave and talented you go for it!
First impression of swatches: They are gorgeous shades, all true to what they look like in the pan. I just feel that they are buildable rather than full on in your face pigment which is a good and bad thing. You can get a full colour eventually with a few more layers and it stops you putting too much one without realising and maybe having to rub it all off but I would’ve wanted a bit more pop. But I haven’t actually applied them on my eyes yet so we will see.
Thoughts after applying shadows on my eyes: So I’m super shocked about how this palette worked on my eyes. It might not look that pigmented when you first swatch but the fact they are buildable really works well and you can create such a lovely look. Even for a total amateur like me, it works! They become so pigmented and all work so well together. I used the shade cookie dough in my crease and blended it out along the whole of the crease. I then sprayed some Mario Badescu on my brush and applied dreams all over my lid, such a gorgeous shimmery gold that went really well. Then I used the shade enchanted just along my crease, blending it slightly but mainly so it’s a define purple part. Then to pop my inner corners I used the gorgeous shimmery silver Infinity and that completed the look! I am so happy and shocked with it and I think for £10 this palette is fab!
Overall: I absolutely love this palette for many reasons. You can create so many lovely looks and there is a shade in there for everyone. It also adds some shades to my collection that I don’t actually own already which excites me. Also the fact that they are buildable works really well because you can just build up your look rather than accidentally ruin one by applying too much or it being more pigmented that you expected. Also the packaging is to die for!! So I absolutely love it!
Here is the final look:
That’s it for today’s blog post. Have a lovely evening! 2 sleeps until Christmas!
