Hey everyone, ♡
Welcome back to the blog, I hope you are all doing really well, Happy February, can you believe it is February already? Today’s blog post is a book review of a book I have recently read called Two Can Keep A Secret By Karen M. Mcmanus. It was only released at the start of the year, so I thought I would do a review to let you know my thoughts and to even let you know that it is out and exists. Hope you enjoy the post and I really hope I do the book justice as I am not the best at these kind of posts.
First of all, I am sure you have all heard of the book One of Us Is Lying, that was all over social media last year, if you haven’t you should definitely read that too. It was also written by Karen M. Mcmanus and that was an amazing one that lots of people loved including me. So when I had an AD from Penguin come up on Instagram for a very appealing book and saw it was written by her I had to buy it straight away.
My blurb: So Two Can Keep A Secret is a teen-crime, thriller fiction book, it takes place in the small town of Echo Bridge that is haunted by an over 20 year old mystery of a missing homecoming queen teenage girl and 5 years since the death of a gorgeous homecoming queen that was never solved. Now the killer claims to be coming back and are more deaths on the horizon? Then comes in two twins, moving to Echo Ridge, the town where their mother grew up, trying to get the answers for lots of things….
The actual blurb: Echo Ridge is reeling. This picturesque town, nestled near the Canadian border, experienced its first tragic loss in 1995 when high-school senior Sarah Corcoran vanished while walking home from the library. Then five years ago, homecoming queen Lacey Kilduff was found dead in the aptly named Murderland Halloween park. Now, the killer claims to be back. A small town that keeps losing its homecoming queens. Two murders, still unsolved. ECHO RIDGE IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE POPULAR.
So the actual look of the book, I think it so pretty and simple. Gorgeous blue lined pages, just very aesthetically pleasing and great for photos. It I think is the perfect look for what the book is about, does not give too much away and I just really like it.
I got the book on Saturday and had finished it by Sunday evening. I absolutely devoured it and that is because I personally think it was amazing. I would rate it a 5/5, it didn’t disappoint in fact it outlived my expectations. So much mystery, secrets, darkness, you just have to keep turning the page so that you can find out what is going to happen next. It draws you in, makes you feel like you are part of it. It also includes some romance, which is so lovely and like One Of Us Is Lying has so many twists and turns. I just think Karen M. Mcmanus writes so well and so cleverly. I also like the fact that she writes it from lots of different people’s perspectives, so you get different views and opinions and shows you people’s lives in detail, I love that effect on a murder mystery book, it works really well. I feel like you can really connect with the characters, when they are upset, heartbroken, happy etc so are you, you feel for them and that is the kind of writing that is really special. Also, I like to have answers and clarity in a book and it gives you that to end with. Cliffhangers are all great and whatever but there is nothing like clarity in a book.
So I totally think if you are into mystery, crime books you need to give this book a read, it is so so so amazing. 37 chapters of pure greatness. Now, I am just waiting for her to release her next book because I am already excited for that! Let me know if you enjoyed this book review and if you would like me to do more, as I am trying to get back into reading.
